Aleki and Rita, is an animated series that follows a middle-class couple in Nairobi, consisting of partners from contrasting backgrounds, brought together by their desire to embrace their true selves, due to increased pressure from society to conform to societal norms. However, with families disagreeing of their union and ex-partners seeking retribution, they seek to fight and maintain a relationship leading to marriage.
A journalist with untapped potential, who occasionally graces the headlines. With his playful and carefree personality, he sometimes comes off as lazy and very casual, and is misunderstood as to how he earns his accolades and success.
A counselling psychologist with a strong passion for humanitarian work. She is down to earth at core but ultimately still wishes to live a luxurious life at times. Highly anxious in tense situations and known to always make sure everything is within her control most of the times.
A very controlling and no-nonsense boss of Mwananchi Media, who has no time for jokes and laughing around. Only believes in grueling hard work and perseverance. However, he also secretly has a side that is very soft towards his wife, and to this degree, tends to have a thing for watching Latino soap operas that helps his romantic side grow to please her.
A largely successful entrepreneur and philanthropist, he uses his wealth to help where he can in the city and mend society, one step at a time. However, the society doesn’t play to him easily as people always are skeptical of his generosity and how he made his wealth, knowing he had a very concerning past with a few rumoured criminal activities.
Aleki and Rita’s caretaker at Uzalendo Estate. He is usually very traditional with everything and seen as a man stuck in the past. Always perplexed by things of the modern age and fails miserably trying to catch up with trends. He has a side hustle as a market vendor and never jokes around with his money.

We take a walk down memory lane, reflecting on the past while dreaming of a brighter future. Through artistic expressions and the aspirations of residents, we glimpse the potential for redemption and transformation to a better and healthier Kibera . Lets come together and fight for Kibera.

We collaborated with Waxxes Animation for this project. This piece was written and directed by Solkids Africa LTD and showcases the journey by Sauti Sol across the continent of Africa. The theme, "Live and Die in Afrika".
A story of Julius, a Maasai in the Mara, on how the drought affects their livelihood, inspired the creation of this collaborative project with Waxxes Animation. This came after a physical visit to Maasai Mara to conduct research on the matter with the family of Julius. Julius is the narrator of this story. The Crtve Development, an NGO, hosted us as well as screened the animation to spread Julius' message to the world.
