Synopsis

It's a big day for your lady, you've planned out all you can, and you'll earn big points in her friend's group chat but what wonders will Nairobi hold when you're just hours late from the start of your working day? Aleki (Real name Alex) seeks to make a grand plan, but nothing seems to work out, however, he still pushes to get the little he can to make her happy. It's the little things in the end, right?

Character development

The cartoon style of modelling inspired the project to have the toon feel. The visual direction breaks away from the traditional outline and stylized textures. We blend it with a little realism and from a few sketches we were able to create stylized 3D models.

Aleki

A guy who still believes in chivalry. The safe hard working husband some ladies wish for. All the same he is constantly tested with them, with the vices and temptations of society.

Rita

The lady who just wants to be the best partner and hopefully mother. A nurturer at best. Hoping for the soft life one day, but keeping up the hope through prayer and hard work.

Mkubwa

he just doesn't see the world without having to be ruthless. The boss that only listens to results and is deaf to excuses. You'll be lucky to see a smile but mostly just a nod. Total office buzz kill.

Animation

With reference we brought out the character of Aleki through acting. Feedback and critique allowed the animation to be pushed and tweaked for better performances.

Sound Design

Sound plays a crucial role in this animation short. We carefully brought together a balanced listening experience to view this animated short.

Features

The short film had us invited to an online panel discussion at Ada Animation Studios, where we discussed the development of this film.

Recognized for the Sondeka Awards 2023 best short film category.
